#AUTOCAD FILE SIZE TOO BIG PDF#
I've attached a screenshot of a very small portion of a 2D family we've made, and the resulting CAD version after exploding and overkilling it (a mess). Hi I dont know to export autocad drawing in pdf i real scale every time when I export form acad to pdf for A3 paper size I get my drawing just on half size of A3 paper size. Enter the PURGE command and select all options. Enter the -PURGE command and choose Regapps. Try using a different version of AutoCAD to open the drawing, such as AutoCAD 2013 vs. Select all objects in a drawing and enter the OVERKILL command. The DGNPURGE tool can be run if the file size is unexpectedly very large (see AutoCAD DWG files unexpectedly increase in file size).

Files this large can tax even the fastest machines and throw a wrench into your work schedule. We typically receive a few calls each week from customers and prospects who are wrestling with CAD parts and assemblies that are anywhere from 50MB to 1.5GB. Detach all unneeded xref files using the XREF command. Large CAD files are all too common for a large percentage of designers and engineers. I just worked on a drawing that was 62 MB. I am now trying to find a method of making the DWGs that we create from the complex families smaller, so that we can reduce the overall size of the plans when exported. Use the following commands to reduce the size of a DWG file. Done 5) Sometimes AutoCAD has problems when it comes to saving older releases especially if the drawing has objects from other programs (Architecture, Civil, Microstation, etc). This could mean seperating out things like contours, property lines, utilities, and site plans into a drawing for each one and xreffing each file. The issue is, that even when all of these components are converted to 2D, and it is only those being printed along with the architectural info, we have a site plan DWG of 70MB. If even after using these tools your autocad drawing it too big still try splitting it into multiple files and xreferencing them to a main drawing file. In order to make our plans printable, we have developed the process of exporting a 2D DWG of these complex families, creating a '2D' revit family with this DWG and using those 2D families in our plans (clear as mud?!). Our main problem is that we receive VERY complex geometry from subcontractors which we have to convert to Revit families in order to locate them in our drawings. Does anyone have any magic tricks to reduce the size of DWGs exported by Revit?īut I was wondering if there was anything else I could/should be trying?
